Transforming kids who transform their community
We believe that children are treasured by God, his image bearers and they need to be loved, raised up, taught, and given opportunities. We believe that they are the key to transforming a community that has been traumatized. It is through the healing of these children through the radical love of Jesus within us that generational curses will be broken, that cycles of abuse will end, and a healthy community with healthy families will arise. We believe that we are all transformed by God's love; therefore, we will transform the world around us.
Imagine being 9, 6, and 2 years old and waking up each morning not knowing if you and your siblings are going to be safe and cared for that day. For Daisha*, Micah*, and baby Aaron*, three children in my Good News club, this is the case. They don’t know if they will be fed, if mom will be sober, if their physical needs will be met, if mom’s boyfriend will be there beating her or them up or if he will be in jail, or if there will even be an adult in the household that day or if Daisha, 9 years old, will be in charge. The one thing they do know is that they will not receive the love and care they require from those who should be loving them the most. Because of generous donations we have been able to provide a safe place for them to come receive food and clothing, have fun in art classes and Good News Club, provide winter coats, hats and gloves, provide a Thanksgiving meal, Christmas gifts, and most importantly make sure they know that they are seen, known and loved by Jesus, through us. This family will need more ongoing assistance and it is an honor to be in their lives, to be a safe place, and to love them. There are many other families in Belair-Edison in the same situation that need our support and love. Our prayer is that BE Transformed home in Belair Edison will physically provide a safe place for children and families to come to receive, counseling, tutoring, food, clothing, Bible studies, and a whole lot of Jesus’ radical love. The home we have moved into is directly across from the elementary school. The location is so strategic. This home will take about $3000 in monthly support to operate in addition to $142,000 to purchase the home outright.
